Using Your Custom Phrase File
Now that you've written your phrase file you need to save it to your disk. The file should be saved as plain ASCII txt, with the filename hangaroo.xml.

Once saved you should run the internal validation routine to check for errors. The file checker is accessed by selecting the "Check Phrase File" option in the top menu. Choose your file, click 'Open' and HangARoo begins to validate your phrase file and will report any errors.

There are three things the check looks for:

1. Number of Phrases - since a full game of HangARoo has 10 levels, there must be a minimum of 10 phrases in your file.
2. Format of File - the correct tags must be present.
3. Size of Phrases - each phrase is checked to make sure it will fit into the puzzle layout.

Phrases that do not fit in the puzzle layout are not deleted from the file, but are marked with a special tag that tells the game to ignore them. This allows you to see which phrases didn't fit, and edit them if you wish. A "marked" phrase will start with <!-- and end with -->. Here's an example:

      <!-- <phrase>THISPHRASEISTOOLONGTOFIT</phrase> -->

Once your phrase file is error-free, select "Load Phrase File" from the top menu and select your file. That's it. You're done.

To go back to the built-in phrases, select "Use Default Phrases" from the top menu.

Note: If you play the game with a custom phrase file and quit without switching back to the default phrases, HangARoo will automatically load that file the next time you play.
